We build and work in safety. Always.
Safety

Constructors believes in the fundamental importance of a continuous and wide-reaching commitment to ensure the wellbeing of its employees and everyone else working on behalf of the company, whether in offices or on building sites.

That is why we decided it was essential to implement a workplace health and safety management system in compliance with current legislation, and we intend to continue working in this direction.

Our safety strategy is based on the following principles:

  • compliance with applicable legislation, particularly on the subject of workplace health and safety, must be ensured because it is the basis for continuous improvement;
  • RESPONSIBILITY for safety management is shared by everyone in the organization, from the employer to every single employee, each according to their position and competencies;
  • personnel must be constantly informed and engaged by means of educational and training initiatives, in which they are not only participants but also the prime players, because safety issues affect and must be owned by everyone;
  • fostering a culture of injury/accident prevention in the workplace by promoting the participation of all personnel in risk prevention and health and safety processes addressed to protecting themselves, their co-workers and third parties;
  • human, technical and economic resources must be made available to ensure that work is performed in conditions of maximum safety.

The system adopted by the company is in line with the combined provisions of legislative decrees 81 (9 April 2008) and 106 (3 August 2009), and based on the following phases:

  1. Risk identification: examination of business activities and processes subject to the risk of criminal activity.
  2. Risk assessment: identified risks must be assessed on the basis of probable occurrence as a result of shortcomings in existing controls.
  3. Definition of a control system: introduction and co-ordination of the system of crime risk controls, including the code of conduct, powers of authorization and manual and IT procedures. In this phase it is also important to inform all levels of the company’s organization about the control system adopted and the introduction of the disciplinary system.
  4. Identification of a supervisory body: identification of a body within the organization with the know-how to oversee the process and an explicit definition of its tasks and responsibilities.
  5. Assessment and review of the model: periodical assessment of the effectiveness of the model and a review of any corrective action.
  6. Training: provision of training sessions for all internal personnel, including courses at external organizations and consulting firms.

To this end, the management has appointed safety, prevention and protection staff (RSPP and ASPP) to create organizational and management models on the basis of UNI INAIL “Italian National Institute for Occupational Accident Insurance” guidelines and implement systematic control procedures for constant verification of their effectiveness by measuring the influence they have on work activities.

Management has also made provision for a figure to act as the company’s safety manager and “supervisory body”.

The safety management system is based on the commitments set out below.

Introduction

  • commitment to compliance with all current legislation;
  • adoption of prevention criteria for workplace safety;
  • accountability of the company’s entire organization;
  • continual monitoring of processes and activities and strict periodical controls and audits;
  • training and information for all employees, contractors and subcontractors, through the joint definition of operating instructions for machines deemed at high risk;
  • adoption of a non-conformity system and corrective action in connection with processes to verify the workplace health and safety checks carried out.

The safety management system is based on the following general principles.

Customer-centric organization, meaning:

  • higher visibility where safety is concerned: prompt submission of the relevant technical and social security documents;
  • stipulation of contracts that precisely define charges for safety and interference risk;
  • preliminary screening of subcontractors and their eligibility in terms of technical/professional qualifications, capacity and experience, and compliance with legislation on accident prevention, professional training, healthcare and social security obligations;
  • ensuring contracts have a termination clause in the case of non-fulfilment of legal safety obligations;
  • involving the customer or its representative in the planning of building site activities;
  • carrying out construction work in controlled conditions to ensure compliance with procedures;
  • measuring how far the company’s overall performance satisfies client-defined and mandatory requirements, in order to generate information relevant to process and system improvements.

Engagement with personnel, i.e. creating a climate conducive to the participation of all employees in the pursuit of business objectives.

  • Communicate awareness of the fact there can be no quality in terms of safety without the commitment of all involved;
  • Compliance with the company’s Code of Ethics.

Engagement with suppliers: the company undertakes to raise the awareness of all players in the supply chain and require them to comply with the safety policies, laws and commitments that CONSTRUCTORS Srl is bound by.

An approach based on processes and their integrated management

  • Identify and assess potential risks for personnel and all new activities and/or processes in order to adopt the appropriate accident prevention solutions/procedures.

Continuous improvement

  • Periodically review workplace health and safety policies and management systems to verify and ensure their congruence, adequacy and suitability with respect to the organization,as well as the effectiveness of their performance, in order to enable periodical reformulation of continuous improvement objectives.
